Mateusz Grodecki graduated with an MSc in Sociology from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (2013), and later earned his PhD (2018) and Habilitation (2024) at the University of Warsaw. He is currently the Head of the Department of Social Sciences Methodology at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology here at MGU. Recipient of the Ministry of Education and Science Scholarship for Outstanding Young Scientists (2022). Author of numerous academic publications in the field of the sociology of sport, particularly on fan violence in football and nationalism. He has been the principal investigator on two projects funded by the National Science Centre: "The Character of National Ideologies of Football Supporters’, (no. 2018/31/B/HS6/00148) and "The boundaries of football-related violence: exploring and explaining its everyday dimensions" (no. 2023/51/D/HS6/02542). Editorial Board Member at the "International Review for the Sociology of Sport" - a leading journal in the field of sport sociology. Personally, big sports fan (football, basketball, handball, boxing, cycling) and amateur cyclist.
